Psalm 1:2, Delight

What do you delight in? Psalm 1:1-2 says, "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But, his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His Law he meditates day and night." We think about the things that we delight in. They occupy our thoughts because it is in those things we find joy. What are the things that we find ourselves thinking most about each day? The Psalmist says that the righteous and the blessed man finds his joy in God's Word. That's why he thinks about it so often ("day and night"). All day long God's Word is coming in and out of his mind. Hour by hour his thoughts are mingling with God's thoughts. Not so with the wicked. The indication here is that those who hang out with and think like "the wicked" and "mockers" are those who find delight in such sin. Their delight is not in the LORD or His Word. The other indication is that if our delight is in God's Word then we will be turned off by wickedness and mocking. Our real joy must be in thinking of the things God has said. His Word must be the most delightful things for us to ponder.
